Meet the Committee

President
Bethany Watters
Bethany is a 3rd year Applied Sports Science student from Edinburgh. "Outside of motorsport I love coaching sports! I currently work as a swim coach :) ". Bethany has overall responsibility for running the club and ensuring everything runs smoothly and on time. Bethany is also responsible for arranging and coordinating with partners and sponsors of the club as well as any communication or events with alumni.

Vice President
Alistair Murison
Alistair is a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student from Kinross-shire. Before university, Alistair competed in the Rotax class of karting primarily at Larkhall and Crail circuits, and he also takes great pleasure in beating the other Scottish BUKC teams. Alistair is responsible for updating our social media accounts, and providing support to the club President if needed. He also manages the equipment at the club lock-up. He will be coordinating club kit orders, including PlayerLayer and race suits.

Secretary
Jack Agarwala
Jack is a 2nd year Astrophysics student from East Lothian. "I joined the club last year and it was definitely a highlight of 1st year. My favourite part of the club is our trips down south for BUKC races". As Secretary Jack will be checking the club email frequently and is the communication link between the club and the Sports Union. He also organises our Social Karting events and updates the important karting championship standings.

Treasurer
Douglas Smith
Douglas is a 4th year Civil Engineering Student from Dumfries. Douglas is our most experienced committee member, this year being his fourth on the committee, and outside of the club he competes in Club100, a national karting championship like BUKC. He is in charge of the club finances, allocating and distributing club funds. Contact Douglas at motorsport.treasurer@ed.ac.uk for any reimbursements.

BUKC Captain
Matthew Collings
Matthew is a 3rd year Mathematical Physics student from Dunfermline. As captain of the Edinburgh University BUKC teams, Matthew is in charge of event bookings, communications with the BUKC team and the logistics of moving our teams around the country to compete.

Wellbeing and Inclusion Officer
Hugh Lawrenson
Hugh is a 2nd year History and Classics student from Huddersfield. "I've been karting since age 12 and competed in the British championships from 2017-2019, finishing P12 in 2019. Crowning achievement of my career was however was however getting black flagged on the first corner of the first lap of my first race in the BUKC for 'loading' ". Hugh is the person to go to if you have any wellbeing concerns, and he will signpost members to the correct individual or organisation that will be able to help.

Honorary Vice President
Dugald Macgregor
Dugald is an Urban Planning and Property Development graduate from Dumfries. In recent years he has filled the role of Karting Coordinator, and Equipment and Safety Officer. Dugald's role as Honorary Vice President is to help the current committee by providing them with the knowledge and wisdom that he has gained over his years on the committee.

Nicky Heywood
Nicky is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the Netherlands. Last year she served as President, and as Secretary for the two years prior. Nicky's role as Honorary Vice President is to provide the current committee with the helpful knowledge that she gained while she was on the committee.
